Lane DiFlavis, LCSW

Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen
— Brené Brown

I believe that all people are deserving of love and healing. All too often life does what life does and we lose sense of our self, our worth, and our belonging. Choosing to pursue therapy is a radical act of self love and a gift towards enriching your life, deepening your understanding of self, and improving your relationships. Congratulations on taking this courageous first step on a journey towards your most authentic self and more satisfying life.

I believe that we aren’t meant to take this journey alone. At our core, we all want to be in relation with one another, but for a variety of reasons, we protect ourselves and act in ways that further disconnection. We all want to be seen and loved for all the parts of ourselves— and that intimacy and connection gives our lives a deeper sense of purpose and meaning. I believe that starts in the strength of a mutually fostered therapeutic relationship. My goal is to co-create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can show up and feel seen, heard, and cared for. I believe that sense of safety and connection is the birthplace of curiosity, growth, and healing.

It would be my honor and privilege to be a part of your journey.

Gender & Sexual Diversity

Everyone has a gender identity, sexual orientation, and romantic orientation. I offer an affirming space for you to explore those parts of yourself— your thoughts, fantasies, and desires. Whether you are questioning parts of your identity or orientation, exploring your relationship to your body and sexuality, or experiencing distress related to gender and sexuality— therapy can offer you the space you need to live your most authentic life.

Trauma

Trauma comes in all shapes and sizes. It impacts our ability to feel physically and psychologically safe and can effect our physical, social, emotional, and spiritual well being. I work from a trauma informed perspective and utilize cognitive, emotional, and narrative processing techniques to explore your experience and provide relief. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help alleviate the distress you experience related to traumatic memories.

Borderline personality disorder

BPD is categorized as a cluster of symptoms that can include a fear of abandonment, instability in relationships, difficulty managing intense emotions, and sometimes thoughts or actions in furtherance of suicidality or self harm. Whether you have this diagnosis or are concerned you might, I utilize a psychodynamic approach to help you gain a better understanding of the purpose of these symptoms and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help you to gain the skills to cultivate a life worth living

Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.
